An open litter box gives your cat a bathroom without a roof overhead. That is a meaningful part of the PETLIBRO Luma’s appeal, especially if your large cat already prefers an uncovered box. The manufacturer’s maximum cat weight is 10 kg, a limit designed to cover most adult cats. Large cat does not mean unlimited room or unrestricted weight. Keep your cat’s build and usual bathroom posture in mind, too.

The minimum cat weight is 1 kg. Manufacturer instructions require kittens below that limit to stay out of automatic mode. A growing kitten’s enthusiasm does not change the rule.

Does your older cat hesitate before stepping into the box? The 34 cm entrance is a high step for stiff legs. For the transition, manufacturer instructions recommend leaving the unit switched off or in manual mode for a few days, with the previous litter box beside it. Familiarity earns its place.

Coming home from a weekend away, you probably want to greet the cat before dealing with the litter box. The 11 L waste drawer offers substantial collection space, which can allow longer intervals between emptying. Think breathing room, not a calendar promise. Cats sharing the box and the litter you use will affect how quickly that space fills.

A neighbor stopping by to feed your cat during vacation still needs a clear plan for checking the drawer. Automatic cleaning does not make collected waste disappear. Your cat has delegated the chore with impressive confidence; someone still has to finish it.

Luma is heavy enough to make moving it a chore, so choose its spot with the long term in mind. Choose a place you expect to keep using. If your cleaning routine involves moving the litter box from room to room, this substantial unit asks more of you than its automatic label might suggest.

Weight tracking can help you follow recorded changes, particularly when your cat’s bathroom visits otherwise blend into the evening routine. A change in your cat’s weight is easy to miss when everyday routines look much the same. Having weight information can give you something concrete to discuss if a change concerns you. It is not a health tool. Changes in weight or bathroom habits belong in a conversation with your veterinarian.

PETLIBRO advertises presence detection as a safety feature. Treat that as a manufacturer claim, not a guarantee of your cat’s safety or proof of a particular stopping behavior. Keep following the operating instructions rather than treating detection as permission to stop paying attention.

For equipment, Luma is well placed in our assessment. The useful combination here is weight tracking, presence detection and a carbon filter. Those features serve different purposes, and none removes the need to check collected waste and pay attention to your cat’s behavior.

The most useful alternative depends on the chore or obstacle you want to reduce. Choose around your cat and your routine. A bigger drawer matters less if getting into the box is already difficult.
